Joe Bergeron
Joe Bergeron was born in Washington, DC but grew up in the rural community of Coventry, Rhode Island, the oldest of seven children. First developing his interest in art and painting at an early age the budding artist won first place in the Providence Journal’s Rhode Islander Annual Christmas art contest (1969). With his first contest and win under his belt he was hooked on art and sought out instruction and mentoring by local art instructors and was taught charcoal drawing as well as pastel and oil painting.
Joe graduated from the University of Rhode Island in 1980, and married Debbie Sarazen in 1981. The two become three in the summer of ’82 with the birth of their first daughter, Nicole.
Growing weary of the cold and looking for new adventures, the young family moved to Greensboro, NC in 1985 where they were soon joined by their second daughter, Sheena. With a full complement of good neighbors, great friends, and more reasonable winters, Joe and his family have made Greensboro their home ever since.
With the girls now grown (and loving prodding from Debbie), Joe has found the time to devote to his art once again. Most nights Joe can now be found painting in his studio at home (if not drinking the wine that has become a regular subject in his art).
A career in electronics engineering has given Joe a high regard for accuracy and detail. With respect for detail and appreciation for the challenge, he strives to have his paintings realistically reflect the subject matter and highlight the beauty found in the subtleties we often miss with the typical quick glance afforded. Working from landscapes, the human form, and still life arrangements, Joe uses unusual perspective and unique points of view to add excitement and interest to the images he paints.
